# System Preferences
Configure Livid's system-level settings for the best experience.
## General Settings
Access general settings via **Livid icon** → **Preferences** → **General**.
### Launch at Login
Enable this option to start Livid automatically when you log in to your Mac.
### Menu Bar Icon
Choose how Livid appears in your menu bar:
- **Color Icon**: Full-color Livid logo
- **Monochrome**: Matches system appearance
- **Hidden**: Hide the icon (access via Spotlight)
### Update Settings
- **Automatic Updates**: Keep Livid up to date automatically
- **Beta Channel**: Get early access to new features
## Performance Settings
Found under **Preferences** → **Performance**.
### Quality Presets
| Preset | Resolution | Frame Rate | Best For |
|--------|------------|------------|----------|
| Performance | 1080p | 30fps | Older Macs, battery saving |
| Balanced | Native | 30fps | Daily use |
| Quality | Native | 60fps | Desktop Macs, visual quality |
### Resource Limits
- **Max CPU Usage**: Limit CPU usage (default: 15%)
- **Max Memory**: Limit RAM usage (default: 512MB)
## Behavior Settings
Configure when wallpapers should pause:
- **On Battery Power**: Pause to save battery
- **Fullscreen Apps**: Pause when apps are fullscreen
- **Screen Saver Active**: Pause during screen saver
- **Display Sleep**: Stop rendering when displays sleep
## Hotkeys
Customize keyboard shortcuts under **Preferences** → **Hotkeys**.
All shortcuts can be customized or disabled.
## Advanced
For power users:
- **Debug Mode**: Enable detailed logging
- **Hardware Acceleration**: Toggle GPU rendering
- **Frame Buffer**: Adjust buffer size for smoother playback
